Pulmonary Function Tests ("PFT") are tests designed to measure the capacity and mechanics of the lungs to determine the nature and extent of any impairment. Lung capacity refers to the size of the lungs and the volume of air it can hold. Lung mechanics refer to the ability of the lungs to move air in and out.
The FVC (percent predicted), FEV1/FVC (measured ratio), and TLC (percent predicted) are the values represented on PFT reports that will be assessed by the trusts to measure impairment. Please see the TDP of each trust to find the specific PFT criteria for disease levels that require evidence of impairment.
